Project Details
This project involved upgrading a dated, basic guest bathroom alcove into a bright, sophisticated oasis. The original small square builder-grade tiles and standard window blind were replaced with high-end materials that elevate the entire room's aesthetic. By pairing expansive, vertical marble-veined porcelain sheets with bold matte black plumbing fixtures, the shower enclosure now serves as a high-contrast focal point that balances classic luxury with contemporary minimalism.

What this project includes
Scope
Demolition of existing ceramic wall tile surround and removal of old window treatments Professional waterproofing and preparation of the shower alcove substrate Installation of large-format, polished Calacatta-style porcelain tile from the tub deck to the ceiling Integration of a custom, obscure-glass block window to maximize natural light while ensuring complete privacy Upgrade of all plumbing trim to a modern matte black multi-function shower head and matching tub spout Installation of a coordinating matte black industrial-style shower curtain rod and hardware accents
Materials
Shower Surround: High-gloss, large-format porcelain tile with realistic grey Calacatta marble veining Fixtures & Hardware: Solid brass plumbing components finished in matte black (including shower head, handle trim, tub spout, and drain assembly) Window Feature: Frosted glass block window grid with water-resistant grout sealing Accessories: Minimalist matte black towel ring and toilet paper holder Walls: Premium interior latex paint in a crisp, clean white eggshell finish
Highlight
The defining feature of this remodel is the seamless glass block window integration paired with the large-format tile layout. Replacing a traditional window setup with a secure glass block grid allowed us to flood the small alcove with beautiful natural daylight without compromising privacy. When framed by the continuous, floor-to-ceiling marble-veined tile and outlined with dark grout lines, it transforms a functional element into an architectural work of art. These look incredibly sharp! Whenever you're ready for the next one, just drop the files.
